This programme comprises a rare selection of insights into the diverse aspects of Marvin Gaye's personal and musical world with special focus on the later period of his life. Ex-wife Anna Gaye, wife Jan Gaye and brother Frankie provide exclusive views and opinions on Marvin's approach to his life, his music and his spirituality. Odell Brown, his long-time arranger/music director and fellow musicians Doni Hagan and Deon Estus talk about the progression and development of his music. Family archive footage reveals Marvin's self-imposed exiles to Ostend, Belgium and to Hawaii. We are given a deeper insight into his bouts of drug abuse as well as Marvin's triumphant return to Los Angeles, leading to his tragic death on the eve of his 45th birthday.
